James I Laurel

This was first minted in 1619 to be a replacement for the Unite. The Laurel was worth 20 shillings or one pound and there were also both half and quarter varieties. It lasted until the end of James's reign in 1625.

The laurel weighed 140.5 grains less than the previous James I Unite but the same as the Unite of the Charles I.
